An ombre dial is one of the very few Rolex makes where the color is not the same everywhere on the face, and the blue here deepens steadily from the center out toward the rim. Nothing has been added to it, so the gradient is left to hold the whole watch on its own. White gold keeps the blue cool rather than warming it. It is comfortably the most restrained thing that this particular Day-Date reference offers.
