Steel with a white gold bezel is the quietest of the two-tone combinations, because both metals read as the same thing at a glance. Only the fluted bezel really gives it away, and even then most people take it for a steel watch. Putting a shell dial with diamonds on top of that is a deliberate contradiction of the whole idea. The Datejust 126234 is where Rolex kept doing exactly that, and this dial is the fullest example of it.
The 36 mm case is Stainless Steel and the fluted bezel above it is cast in White Gold. White mother-of-pearl fills the dial, and diamonds in gold settings stand exactly where the hour markers would be. A Cyclops lens magnifies the date at three, and baton hands cross the shell surface lying beneath. The Jubilee bracelet is five-piece links in Stainless Steel throughout, closing on a folding Oysterclasp with a comfort extension.
