Aubergine is one of the rarest colors Rolex has ever used, and it appears on very few Datejust references at all. The purple sits dark enough to read as near-black indoors and shows its real tone only in daylight. Diamonds set into the six and the nine are the only bright points anywhere on the whole surface. Against a white gold fluted bezel the color has nothing warm to fight against, which is what keeps it clean.

The 36 mm case is Stainless Steel and sits under a fluted bezel cast entirely in White Gold. An aubergine dial carries Roman numerals in gold, with the six and the nine both set with diamonds. The date appears at three beneath a Cyclops lens, and baton hands cross the sunray finish below. Five-piece Jubilee links in Stainless Steel run the bracelet to a folding Oysterclasp with a comfort extension.
