Tartan is the outlier in the Rare Handcrafts programme: a repeating geometric pattern rather than a picture, and one that exposes any irregularity across the whole dial at once. It is executed here in hand-guilloché beneath translucent enamel rather than in cloisonné, so the plaid comes from engine-turning cut into the metal and read through colour, not from wire cells. The over-and-under of a woven cloth has to be suggested by depth of cut alone, which is a different problem from any of the pictorial dials in the series.
The white gold case measures 34.5 mm in the Golden Ellipse profile. The dial is hand-guilloché and finished in blue translucent enamel, the pattern visible through the colour and shifting with the light. A self-winding movement drives hours and minutes with nothing else on the dial. Alligator strap. Guilloché and enamelling are separate trades with separate apprenticeships, and Patek Philippe is among the few houses still holding both in-house, which is what allows one dial to combine them at all.
