Balinese mother-of-pearl is cut from a shell farmed in Indonesian waters and is whiter and more even than the Australian material Patek uses elsewhere, which is why it can carry applied numerals without the pattern fighting them. Blackening the white gold numerals is the decision that makes the dial legible — polished markers would have disappeared into the nacre.

The white gold case measures 38 mm with a diamond bezel. The white Balinese mother-of-pearl dial carries blackened white gold applied numerals. The annual calendar displays day, date and month with moon phases, correcting itself for every month except February. The watch is completed on a hand-stitched alligator leather strap. No two mother-of-pearl dials are alike, since the pattern is whatever the shell provided, and Patek grades and rejects far more material than it uses. Part of the Complications collection.
