Spessartite takes its name from the Spessart, a range in Bavaria where it was first identified, and the finest orange material is traded under the name mandarin garnet. It is one of the few gems whose colour needs no treatment at all to reach full saturation.
The white gold case measures 37 mm with a gem-set bezel. The white gold dial is set with baguette-cut orange spessartites and carries white gold Royal Oak hands. The watch is completed on a white gold bracelet set with baguette-cut orange spessartites with an AP folding clasp. Orange is the most assertive colour in the 37 mm set, and against white gold it is the version of this Royal Oak that carries furthest across a room.
