Snow setting is the technique where diamonds of deliberately varying size are placed without a repeating pattern until the metal beneath disappears entirely. It is harder than uniform pavé precisely because it must look random — a setter working to a grid can be checked against the grid, while this can only be judged by eye, and a single misplaced stone reads as an error across the whole surface. Audemars Piguet applies it here to the case, the dial and the full length of the bracelet.

The white gold case measures 37 mm, its octagonal bezel and hexagonal screws still legible beneath the setting. The white gold dial is snow-set with brilliant-cut diamonds and carries baguette-cut diamond hour-markers. The white gold bracelet is snow-set along its entire length and fitted with an AP folding clasp. Because no two snow settings are laid out identically, two examples of the reference will differ under close inspection even though both are correct — which is unusual for a watch whose case is machined to a tolerance. The reference sits among the fully set Royal Oak references rather than the standard catalogue.
