Frosted gold is Audemars Piguet's adoption of the Florentine hammering technique, developed with the Italian jeweller Carolina Bucci and applied by striking the gold surface with a diamond-tipped tool until it scatters light like cut stone rather than reflecting it like polish. It is a jewellery process, not a watchmaking one, and the brand was the first to bring it to a steel-sports-watch silhouette. Combined here with the double balance wheel — two balances on one staff, sharing a hairspring arrangement that improves rate stability — and an openworked dial, it is one of the more complete statements of what the modern Royal Oak can carry.

The yellow gold case measures 37 mm with the hammered frosted finish across every visible surface. The yellow gold-toned openworked dial carries applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands, with the movement visible behind them. The hammered yellow gold bracelet is integrated into the case and fitted with an AP folding clasp.
