The Ellipse occupies a singular position in Cartier's catalogue as the house's most purely geometric creation — an oval case derived from the golden ratio, its proportions calculated with the same mathematical precision Cartier applied to its finest jewelry. Introduced in 1971, the Ellipse predates the luxury sport watch era and yet arrived at a similarly bold proposition: a precious metal case architecture so visually complete that it required no bezel markers, no additional elements, simply the oval form itself. The fully diamond-set bezel and bracelet configuration of reference WB6006EE represents the Ellipse in its most rarefied expression, transforming an already exceptional watch into an object that exists at the direct intersection of haute horlogerie and haute joaillerie.
The 26mm yellow gold oval case carries a double-row diamond-set bezel, with pavé-set diamond panels integrated at regular intervals throughout the articulated yellow gold bracelet — each rectangular link alternating between brushed gold and diamond-set cluster sections. The cream dial presents bold black Roman numerals, a fine railroad minute track, and blued-steel sword hands with the characteristic Cartier sapphire cabochon crown at three o'clock. A Swiss quartz movement powers this piece.
