From School Drop-Offs to Chic Stacks: Jewelry in The Life of an Upper East Side Mommy

The day of our interview, the Upper East Side's Favorite Mommy, Joyce Chabbott, strolled into Jewels Aficionado wearing a long leather coat, Hermès flats, a navy blue Birkin 25, and an impressive stack of diamonds. Upper East Side Mommy's jewelry collection is something that's turned many heads, and we have all the details.
Joyce came in for a private preview of our Mika Studs, before they officially launched, and naturally, she stacked them next to her signature diamond earrings.
We headed to Harry Cipriani, the iconic Upper East Side restaurant where her first video went viral. Her Cipriani go-to? An iced cappuccino (or a crisp glass of white wine), cucumber salad to start, and rigatoni with pink sauce. As we sat down, we dove into one of her favorite topics - jewelry.
We’ve all seen Upper East Side Mommy's jewelry stack, but this isn’t a trend for her. She’s been curating and layering her finest pieces for years. Long before it was everywhere, she had the eye for stacked earrings, layered diamond necklaces, and wrists full of bracelets. She doesn’t save her best pieces for special occasions, as she wears her best jewelry in her day to day mommy duties.
Midway through her cappuccino, we got to the good part: the questions everyone wants to ask about her jewelry collection. And as expected, her answers didn’t disappoint.
Have you always had that confident eye for mixing pieces, or was there a moment when you really leaned into your signature style?
Well, clearly I love stacking jewelry. I don’t believe in buying pieces just to put them away. I wear everything I own. When I got married, my husband gifted me a few statement, yet timeless pieces, and everyone kept saying, 'Save them for special occasions.' I said, absolutely not. I’m wearing these every single day. That’s really where my love for stacking started. It began with just a few pieces, and then I started thinking how can I make this stack feel more cohesive? I love layering, and I truly believe you can never have too much jewelry.
If you were starting from scratch, what are the first three pieces you'd buy? Your top three must-haves?
"Classic first, trendy second."
My top three would be a Riviera necklace, a tennis bracelet, and diamond studs.
What’s your most sentimental piece—the one that never comes off and goes with everything?
Without hesitation, my engagement ring.
What's on your current jewelry wishlist?
A Patek Philippe Tiffany watch. I’m so in love with it and I’ll get it one day. I’m manifesting it for myself! In terms of jewelry, the Marquise tennis necklace I saw at the store. So different, but still so classic. I love it.
For Joyce, styling jewelry is second nature. Listening to her share how she mixes and wears her pieces felt like chatting with a friend who just gets it. The same warmth and light she brings into a room comes through on her socials, always smiling and always wearing her stunning jewelry pieces.
